Women’s Tennis Stays Put at No. 10 in Weekly NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - Despite closing the regular season with three straight victories, Anderson University women's tennis remained 10th in the second of three NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings, announced by the Association on Wednesday.

In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections. The eight Southeast Region teams that earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament are the most by any region, as 48 teams from across the country move on to the annual postseason tournament.

The Trojans have posted their most regular-season victories in the SAC era with 14, as they begin their conference tournament campaign on Thursday. After posting a 7-4 record within the SAC, AU claimed the No. 5 seed in the annual tournament looking for its first win in the postseason since the 2013 season.

This week's poll remained the same as last week's as the top-five spots belong to PBC teams. Armstrong continues to lead the way, followed by Columbus State in the No. 2 spot. Georgia College continues to hold the No. 3 position, while Flagler grabbed the fourth slot for the second straight week. GRU Augusta rounded out the stretch of Peach Belt teams and earned the fifth position.

Wingate breaks the PBC trend in sixth, while Tusculum claimed the eighth spot, as both schools earned byes in this week's SAC Tournament. Queens remained eighth, while Newberry finished just ahead of the Black and Gold in ninth.

Anderson will meet fourth-seeded Newberry in the opening round of the SAC Tournament on Thursday. First serve from the Brevard College Tennis Complex is slated for 1 p.m.
