Trojans Prepare for Lincoln Memorial on Saturday

ANDERSON, S.C. - As both teams enter the weekend on identical two-match winning streak, Anderson University men's and women's tennis continue South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday when it heads to Lincoln Memorial. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Men's Tennis Seeks Double-Figure Wins
With its back-to-back conference road triumphs over Carson-Newman (8-1) and Brevard (7-2), AU comes into the weekend with a 9-2 overall record with a 6-1 mark in SAC play. With the 6-1 league record, the Trojans sit alone in third place in the current SAC standings, as they trail Wingate (5-0) and Tusculum (2-0) for the top spot.

Headlining the AU singles lineup is freshman Harrison Kansol, as he carried a perfect 7-0 record on the season, including an unbeaten 5-0 mark against conference opponents, while playing at the No. 6 position. Also holding undefeated conference singles records in Inaki Iriberry (6-0) and Mateo Rivas (6-0), as both players are 9-2 for the season.

In doubles, Iriberry and junior Paul Michael Calhoun lead Anderson with a 5-2 record and have won two of their last three matches.

Women's Team Looks to Move up SAC Standings
Riding a two-match winning streak, the Trojans are 8-3 for the season with a 5-2 record in the SAC, as they hold fourth place in the league standings. After suffering two straight setbacks to open the month of March, Anderson bounced back with wins over Carson-Newman (7-2) and Brevard (9-0) earlier this week.

Leading the Trojans in singles action is sophomore Rebecca Bruning with a 10-1 overall record, while carrying a 7-0 mark in the conference. Bruning is 9-1 in her last two matches, as she is a two-time recipient of the AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week award this season. The Athens, Ga. native has won his last six matches and is 7-1 at the No. 2 position this season.

Bruning and freshman Ivey Welborn are tied with Mairead Cleary and Lindsay Gregory are tied for the team lead in doubles wins with six, as the tandem of Bruning and Welborn is 5-1 against conference opponents.

The Railsplitters
Lincoln Memorial's men's team comes into the weekend with an even 3-3 overall record, while the women's team is 2-4 on the season. Both teams have gone in opposite directions, as the men's team has won their last two contests, but the Lady Railsplitters have dropped their last three, as the trio of setbacks has come against SAC opponents.

On the men's side, LMU is just 11-25 in singles play as it seeks its first win at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions this season. Leading the team in singles wins are Pepe Batalla, who is 3-3 at No. 3, and Josha Peress, who is also 3-3 on the year.

In doubles, Batalla and Peress, who play at the No. 2 position, hold a 4-2 record with a 2-1 mark against conference opponents.

Leading the way on the women's team is the pair of Angelica Solano and Elena Vasilyeva who is 4-2 on the season. Vasilyeva headlines the lineup with a 3-0 record in conference play while playing at the No. 1 slot.

For the doubles portion, Vasilyeva and Gemma Goodland are a perfect 5-0 this season at the No. 1 spot, with a 3-0 mark in the league. Despite the perfect record, the Lady Railsplitters are 7-10 in all doubles matches this season.
