Women’s Tennis Recognized by ITA

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Anderson University women's tennis was one of the many teams named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as six Trojans were listed on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, released by the ITA late Thursday.

Kayla Bishop, Rebecca Bruning, Lindsay Gregory, Lauren Howard, Avery Owens and Nikkola Wichenko were six players represented on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, while AU joined four other teams from the South Atlantic Conference on the All-Academic Team list. The six Trojans was the most represented team from the SAC on the scholar-athlete list.

In January, the women's tennis team was awarded the Dr. Shirley Jacks Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by the AU Athletics Department to the team that possesses the highest grade point average each semester. The program finished the fall semester with a 3.58 GPA and was honored at halftime of the men's basketball game on Dec. 7, 2013.

To be recognized by the ITA, student-athletes must earn a 3.5 GPA during the year, as the All-Academic Team must earn a team-GPA higher than 3.2 for the academic year.
