GREENWOOD, S.C. -- The Trojans finished competition at the Bearcat Golf Classic hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. on Tuesday, finishing 291-289-294(+10) on the tournament to take 14th place in the field.

"Definitely a much better week," said head coach Austin Castles. "We didn't finish where we wanted, but we were so much closer this week than we have been."

Junior Simon Wright (Lancaster, S.C.) paved the way for the Trojans, shooting 70-70-74 to tie for 32nd at two-under.

"Extremely proud of Simon Wright this week," said Castles. "He showed some really good stuff."

Freshman Sam McMillan (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) carded a 70(-2) round one, while round two saw fifth-year Jamie Markwick (Bishop's Waltham, Eng.) notch 70(-2) for the Black and Gold.

"Overall, we have to continue to clean up and do the little things right, but this week was a big step forward. Every competitive round is a learning experience, and we'll continue to learn and get better each week."
