Trojans Fall in Midweek Non-Conference Tilt

ANDERSON, S.C. – Returning to the diamond just two days after their last contest, the Anderson University (19-22) baseball team dropped a hard fought 6-1 decision to Emmanuel (27-16) at home on Tuesday, April 16.

The Trojans were able to record five hits in the contest, each one coming off a different bat. Senior Carlos Hernandez (Maracay, Venezuela) was the only member of the batting order to record an RBI in the game.

After trading runs in the first inning, Anderson would not have another good look at a run scoring opportunity until the bottom of the seventh inning, though they gave up four more runs to the Lions along the way. Anderson was able to load the bags in the bottom of the seventh with just one away, but were unable to capitalize on the chance as the final two batters were retired through strikeouts. Emmanuel added one more run to their tally in the top of the ninth to wrap up their 6-1 win.

The Trojans return to action this weekend as they hit the road to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne in a three-game conference tilt.
