Eagles Soar In Second Half To Defend Home Court; 84-79

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – Carson-Newman (18-7, 12-5 SAC) poured on the scoring in the third and fourth quarter to overcome an eleven-point halftime deficit, defeating Anderson (18-6, 10-6 SAC), 84-79, on Saturday afternoon at Holt Fieldhouse.   

"Tough one on the road, but at this point every game is going to be tough," stated head coach Jonathon Barbaree.

The Trojans placed four players in double-figure scoring with senior Zamiya Passmore dropping in a game-high 28 points. Passmore was also credited with 10 assists and two steals to record her third double-double of the season. Senior Nelliah Wilson recorded her sixth double-double of the year netting 16 points and ripping down 12 rebounds. Junior Diamond McDowell chipped in 13 points while hauling in eight rebounds. Sophomore Ashlyn Sheridan contributed 11 points and three assist.

Carson-Newman also placed four players in double-digits with Lindsey Taylor scoring a team-high 24 points for the Eagles.

Anderson will remain on the road to face-off with SAC opponent Newberry on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm.
