ANDERSON, S.C. - Despite falling behind after the doubles round, Anderson University women's tennis captured five singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Coker in South Atlantic Conference action Sunday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.

With the triumph, the Trojans remain perfect on the season and move to 4-0, improving on their best start in program history. The win also hands the Black and Gold their first SAC victory, marking their first victory in a conference opener since the 2013 season.

To open the match, Anderson dropped a pair of doubles contests, as the duo of Lindsay Gregory and Mairead Clearly were the lone Trojans to add to the team score with an 8-3 win at No. 1 over Coker's (2-2, 0-1 SAC) Jennifer Mezei and Sarah Elliott.

Facing a 2-1 deficit, AU stormed back with five singles wins to seal the conference victory. At No. 1, Bruning bounced back following a doubles setback with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mezei, while Alexander Ebner posted a three-set, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 against Coker's Jessi Campos.

Lindsay Gregory made her afternoon a perfect one with a three-set, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Ragan Palmer at No. 4, while sister, Abigail Gregory, notched a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Elliott at the No. 5 position. To round out the singles round with the match in hand, Nikkola Wichenko added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Suzanna Mickey at No. 6.

The 6-3 victory marked the first time the Trojans have been scored on, as they entered Sunday winning three straight matches by a 9-0 score.

Anderson jumps back into its nonconference schedule on Thursday when it hosts Columbus State. The first serve from Max Grubbs Memorial Courts is scheduled for 2 p.m.
