Trojans Extend Streak to Four With 23-15 Win Over Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Stepping outside of South Atlantic Conference play, the Anderson University (9-1) women's lacrosse team tallied a 23-15 win over Emmanuel University (8-4) to extend their win streak out to four on Wednesday, March 20.

Freshman Rayne Dobson (Houston, Texas) led all scorers in the contest with eight goals, adding an assist for nine total points. The point leader in the contest was sophomore Alicia Cannon (Tarzana, Calif.) who recorded 12 points on the day split over five goals and seven assists. Sophomore Sophia Santagata (North Port, Fla.) added five more goals to the Trojans tally while freshman Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) chipped in a trio of scores. Sophomore Ava Drath (Hudsonville, Mich.) recorded 12 saves in the contest.

Anderson took the lead in the early goings of the contest, scoring the first three goals of the game within five minutes of the first draw. Emmanuel was able to split up the scoring with a single goal before the two teams traded pairs of goals to end the opening quarter with Anderson leading 5-3. The second quarter was an offensive explosion for both squads as there were a grand total of 12 goals scored in the period. The Black and Gold were able to outscore the Lions by a 7-5 margin, taking the 12-8 lead into the break.

A four goal streak in the third quarter for the Lions brought them back to within two goals of the Trojans but Anderson was able to wrap up the third period with a trio of a goals to bring their advantage back out to five at 17-12. The Black and Gold were able to double up the offensive production of the Lions in the final quarter of action, outscoring the home team by a 6-3 margin to secure their 23-15 win.

Anderson returns to the field on Tuesday, March 26 as they make the trip up to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone University in a conference showdown slated for a 7:00 p.m. first draw.
