Bruning Earns AstroTruf SAC Player of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - After Anderson University women's tennis cruised to a 9-0 victory over nonconference opponent Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, sophomore standout Rebecca Bruning was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played this past weekend, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Bruning began the 2015 season in stride as she teamed up with newcomer Mairead Cleary and posted an 8-1 victory over SWU's Samantha Powell and Elizabeth Mulkey at the No. 1 position. Following the triumph, Bruning claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Powell at No. 1 singles, as she finished the day with a perfect 2-0 record.

The singles win was Bruning's 14th of her two-year career, as she was named to the Preseason All-SAC First Team prior to the start of this season.

The sophomore and the rest of the Trojans return to the courts on Wednesday when they head to the capital to square off against Columbia College. The first serve is set for 4 p.m.
