ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson men's tennis (4-3, 0-2 SAC) came up just short in the second conference match of the season, 4-3, at the hands of Lincoln Memorial (7-3, 1-0 SAC) on Sunday afternoon.
LMU took the doubles point behind wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. After the point was clinched, Joao Mendes and Sky Thavornchaisophon nabbed a 7-6(5) victory at the No. 1 spot.
Down 1-0, the Trojans showed resilience in singles. Freshmen Sky Thavornchaisophon (Bangkok, Thailand) raced to a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Vicent Mico (Alicante, Spain) was not far behind at No. 2, winning 6-3, 6-3.
The Railsplitters answered back with a tight straight-set win at No. 1, but the Trojans took a 3-2 lead with help from junior Mathis Collignon. The Les Pavillons Sous Bois, France native erased a 3-0 third set deficit to score a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot.
Lincoln Memorial took the final pair of matches at No. 6 and No. 4, the latter being in a deciding third set.
UP NEXT
After spring break, AU hits the road for the first time in SAC play against Coker on March 13th. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
