ANDERSON, S.C. - Headlined by senior Lindsay Gregory's perfect day, Anderson University women's tennis held off South Atlantic Conference rival Lenoir-Rhyne with a 5-4 victory Wednesday afternoon at Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.

The victory gives the Trojans their 13th victory of the season, moving to 13-5, and wraps up their league schedule with a 7-4 record. The 13 regular-season triumphs by the Black and Gold are the most in the SAC era, as they tie the final win tallies of the 2010 and 2012 spring seasons.

Anderson jumped out to a hot start in the doubles portion, as the tandem of Alexandra Ebner and Mairead Cleary notched a narrow 9-7 win over the Lenoir-Rhyne (9-11, 4-5 SAC) pair of Lela Sparks Thompson and Taylor Snowdon at the No. 2 position. The sister team of Lindsay Gregory and Abigail Gregory sealed a lead heading into the singles round with an 8-3 victory over Jessica Rumple and Amanda Bryan at No. 3.

In singles, sophomore Rebecca Bruning bounced back after a doubles setback with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Dominique Bruce at the No. 2 slot. After Bruning's victory, Gregory closed her afternoon by cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Rumple at the No. 5 slot.

Sealing the victory was junior Nikkola Wichenko with a 7-6, 6-0 win over Maggie Brown at the No. 6 spot for her eighth singles victory on the season.

Anderson returns to the courts on Thursday when it heads to USC Aiken for a nonconference tilt. The action is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
