Gooding Leads Field as No. 7 Trojans Top Leaderboard After Day One Action at SAC Championships

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Sophomore Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) leads the field with an even par round of 71 as the No. 7 Anderson University women's golf team leads the field by 13 strokes after the first day of action at the South Atlantic Conference Championships at the Country Club of Salisbury on Sunday, April 14.

Sophomore Aly Francis (Stockbridge, Ga.) and junior Zoey Iglesias (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) currently sit just one stroke behind Gooding with rounds of 72 to sit a one-over par for the tournament. Senior Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, Va.) recorded a round of 74 to sit in a tie for seventh while junior Kennedy McGaha (Honea Path, S.C.) shot an opening round of 75 to sit tied for 11th. 

Wingate currently sits in second as a team at +18 with the Trojans recording five-over in their first round. Catawba sits tied with Wingate while Lincoln Memorial (+20) and Carson-Newman (+24) round out the top-five teams.

The Trojans will kick off second round action at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15 as they look to increase their advantage.
