Trojans Outlasted by No. 10 Newberry 14-12; Rematch Set for Saturday in SAC Quarterfinal

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Wednesday night's match-up between Anderson's men's lacrosse team and No. 10 Newberry would prove to be the first of back-to-back games between the squads, as South Atlantic Conference Championships seeding would pit the two against each other in the opening round of the tournament, regardless of Wednesday's outcome. With the win tonight, Newberry moves to 6-3 in SAC play and claims the No. 4-seed in the tournament, earning the right to host No.5-seed Anderson (5-4 SAC) on Saturday (April 20.)

Regarding the impending affair, head coach Albert Mitchell said, "See you Saturday."

Sophomore Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.) paved the way for the Trojans against the Wolves, finding the back of the net in each of the four quarters to lead the team with four goals and an assist on the night. Matthew Rodgers (Carmel, Ind.), PJ Fenchak (Lutherville Timonium, Md.) and Tristan Kirkham (Langley, B.C.) each tallied braces in the contest, while AJ Rush (Chantilly, Va.) recorded his third goal of the season and Radyn Badraun (Mission Viejo, Calif.) his 27th.

Anderson outscored the Wolves in both the first (2-1) and fourth (4-3) quarters but conceded four-straight in the second fifteen minutes of play—a deficit that proved to be the difference.

The Black and Gold seek to flip the tables on Saturday in the SAC Quarterfinals at Newberry. Game time has not yet been announced.
