LEXINGTON, S.C. - Despite two doubles victories to open the day, Anderson University women's tennis could not keep up with Newberry in the singles portion, as the Trojans fell 6-3 in South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday at the Lexington Tennis Complex after the Newberry Tennis Complex was deemed unplayable.

With the setback, the Black and Gold snap a three-match winning streak and fall to 9-4 overall with a 6-3 mark in league play, while the Wolves improve to 13-4 on the season.

In doubles, AU's Mairead Cleary and Alexandra Ebner claimed a narrow 9-8 (7-0) victory over Elizabeth Williamson and Tara Lamers at the No. 2 slot, while the sister tandem of Lindsay and Abigail Gregory posted an 8-3 triumph over Kelly McManus and Rebeca Martinez at No. 3.

With a 2-1 lead moving into the singles round, the Trojans managed one win coming at the No. 5 position where Lindsay Gregory defeated Martinez 6-2, 6-2. Following Gregory's win, the Wolves grabbed a trio of three-set matches for the singles portion and clinched the 6-3 conference win.

Anderson jumps back into its nonconference schedule on Wednesday when it hosts GRU Augusta at Max Grubbs Memorial Courts. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
