Trojans with Season-Best 6th-Place Finish at Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. -- Anderson's men's golf team wrapped up regular season play this week (March 25-26) with a season-best 6th-place finish at the Tennessee River Rumble hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at Wind River Golf Course.

"We had a really awesome week," said head men's golf coach Austin Castles. "For the first time all year, I feel like we went out a competed. Definitely huge to go to a field loaded with Top-25 teams and finish sixth."

The Trojans finished round one on Monday in fourth place with a team score of 293, before shooting a team-best round of 289 to conclude day one of the tournament in fifth place. The Black and Gold ended the tournament in sixth place, sitting ahead of four Top-25 teams—No. 24 Coker (T7), No. 17 Barton (T7), No. 10 Lander (9th) and No.3 Grand Valley State (T10).

"Jamie and Simon were massive this week. They each gave us two fantastic rounds," said Castles.

Jamie Markwick (Bishop's Waltham, Eng.) shot a team-best opening round of 69(-3), followed a second round of 70 (-2). Simon Wright (Lancaster, S.C.) carded a 71(-1) third round to keep the Trojans steady on the leaderboard.

"Luke fought back after a tough first round and played great golf the last two rounds. Daniel was solid as always, and Sam fought hard and was a big contributor as well."

Luke Sullivan (Columbia, S.C.) recorded a 70(-2) second round, followed by Daniel Coker (Hartsville, S.C.) with a 73(+1) opening round and Sam McMillan (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) who shot a 74(+2) round two.

"It was truly a group effort," said Castles. "Director of Golf, Denton Moore was huge for us this week, can't thank him enough for being there. We couldn't have done it without him."

The Trojans look to continue this week's success at the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Championships (April 21-23).

"Super proud of the guys! They showed some grit in some tough conditions. Very excited to build off some momentum headed into the Conference Championship in a few weeks."
