ANDERSON, S.C. – Finishing out the three-game series with King University (0-7) with another double digit run performance, the Anderson University (5-2) baseball team swept the Tornado on the weekend as they picked up the 16-5 win on Saturday, February 10.

Junior Anthony Pandolfi (Hicksville, N.Y.) was nearly perfect at the dish in the game as he recorded four hits and three RBIs. Senior Carlos Hernandez (Maracay, Venezuela) hit .500 in the contest, also tallying three RBIs. Senior Kye Andress (Hendersonville, N.C.) continued his fantastic performance over the weekend with a 2-for-5 day at the plate, recording four RBIs and scoring two runs over his own. Junior Walker Noland (Marietta, Ga.) picked up the win in the contest, tossing six complete while fanning five, notching his second win of the season.

King again was able to open the contest with early runs, posting two in the top of the first inning while holding the Trojans scoreless in the bottom half of the frame. However, the Black and Gold were able to score in five of the eight innings they batted in, starting with a six-run explosion in the bottom of the second. A trio of singles, a wild pitch and a double recorded five runs for the Trojans while Hernandez added the sixth with a sacrifice fly to give Anderson the 6-2 lead.

Four more runs found their way onto the home side of the scoreboard in the third as a hard ground out, a double and a wild pitch brought around the scores for the Trojans, further extending their lead to 10-2. Anderson added another run in each of the next two innings before the Tornado were finally able to score again with a three-run homer to make it a 12-5 ballgame. The Trojans continued to pour on the offense in the sixth inning, turning in four more runs while holding the Tornado scoreless throughout the remainder of the contest to secure the 16-5 win.

The Trojans now rest for nearly a week before they make their first foray into South Atlantic Conference play with a three-game series with Tusculum set to kick off on Friday, February 16 at 4:00 p.m.
