Trojans Edged Out Twice At Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, GA.– Anderson University softball (0-6) was edged out twice at nonconference opponent Young Harris (4-1) losing game one, 4-3, while dropping game two, 7-6, on Wednesday afternoon at the YHS Softball Field.

"We've made some progress, but it seems we just can't finish," said head coach Tommy Hewitt. "We are having a hard time closing the deal. We did put some hits together today but hit only a few hard hit balls."

 "We need to become a more aggressive team," stated Hewitt.

 

Game One

  • Anderson outhit the Mountain Lions 9-5.
  • Young Harris committed three errors.
  • AU's Carson Hobbs with 4-4 while Ava Worthy batted 2-4 and Kadence Barrick had a pinch-hit single.
  • Senior Laken Maxwell (0-3) suffered the loss, giving up five hits while striking out six.

 

Game Two

  • The Black and Gold scored five runs over the final two innings.
  • AU's Jenna Davis and Hanna Whitaker each went 2-for-3.
  • Trojans left 11 runners on base.
  • Young Harris scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Morgen Baker-Celis (0-2) took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings.

 

Next Up

Anderson will host the Trojan Early Bird Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Black and Gold open the round robin facing off with Southern Wesleyan. First-pitch is slated for 12 pm.
