Trojans Fall in Series Finale to Catawba

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University (19-21, 8-16 SAC) baseball team never got going in the final game of the conference series with Catawba (32-10, 19-5 SAC) as they dropped a 22-0 decision to the visiting Indians on Sunday, April 14.

Senior Kye Andress (Hendersonville, N.C.) was one of the only spotlights for the Trojans on the day as he was able to post a pair of hits at the dish in the contest. Freshman Zach Stover (Powdersville, S.C.), senior JC LeGrand (Lugoff, S.C.) and junior Anthony Pandolfi (Hicksville, N.Y.) were each able to record a hit in the contest as well.

Anderson was able to hold the Indians scoreless in the opening inning but unfortunately for the Black and Gold that was the lone scoreless inning for the Catawba in the contest. Catawba was able to score a lone run in the second and a pair in the third to take the 3-0 lead and further extended their advantage to 9-0 with six runs in the fourth.

The Trojans were able to get runners just 90 feet away from scoring in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but in both instances, there were two outs on the board and Anderson was unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Catawba tallied 13 more runs in the contest over the final three innings of action to take the win.

Anderson returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 16 as they welcome in Emmanuel to Anderson Memorial Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.
