Anderson, S.C. – Already playing in windy/cold conditions, Anderson women's tennis (10-5, 5-4 SAC) and South Atlantic Conference opponent Newberry (9-5, 5-4 SAC) left it all out on the court after a six and a half hour match which the Wolves eventually prevailed winning five three-set matches to claim the, 6-1, victory on Wednesday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
Newberry claimed the early doubles point winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 flight. AU's No. 3 duo of Alexandria Brathwaite and Gigi Sompayrac kept the Trojans from being swept with a 6-4 win.
All six singles matchups went three sets with tie breaks in each one. Despite battling hard in each one, the Black and Gold could only come away with a victory in the No. 6 spot. Laura Alvarez Tello defeated her opponent, 3-6, 7-6(4) and 7-5.
