Trojans Poised for Run In Third Round of NCAA National Championships Stroke Play

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- After wrapping up the first two rounds of the week, the Anderson University women's golf team looks poised to make a run at the top-8 spots in stroke play, the spot they need to finish in to qualify for the Medal Match rounds on Friday and Saturday. Trojans currently sit in 11th at +16 for the tournament, just one stroke off of the ninth-place teams and five strokes removed from eighth-place.

Flagler leads the field at -6 overall with West Texas A&M sitting second at -5. The next three teams sits at +2 and +3 with the sixth and seventh spots within reach of the Trojans at +8 and +9 overall.

Individually, senior Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, Va.) leads the Trojans at two-over for the week to sit tied for 25th. Sophomore Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) and junior Kennedy McGaha (Honea Path, S.C.) are both tied for 31st in the field with scores of three-over. Junior Zoey Iglesias (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and sophomore Aly Francis (Stockbridge, Ga.) sit 73rd and 86th on the leaderboard after two rounds.

The Trojans tee-off at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 as they look to qualify for the Medal Match rounds on Friday with a top-8 team finish.
