Bruning, Welborn Honored by South Atlantic Conference


ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson University women's tennis junior Rebecca Bruning and sophomore Ivey Welborn were recognized by the South Atlantic Conference, as Bruning was picked to the All-SAC Second Team singles and doubles, while Welborn joined Bruning on the second-team doubles list, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Bruning claims her fifth postseason all-conference accolade after landing on the All-SAC Second Team singles list in 2014, the All-SAC singles and doubles first-team list after the 2015 regular season. The Athens, Ga. native held a 15-6 overall singles record, highlighted by wins over two nationally ranked players and a No. 45 national ranking to go in front of her name. Bruning is currently the No. 14th singles player in the Southeast Region.

For her career, Bruning holds a 44-11 overall record with a 27-4 mark against SAC opponents.

On the doubles side, Bruning and Welborn finished 16-6 overall and 9-2 in the conference all from the No. 1 position. The tandem has been ranked as high as No. 22 in the nation and are currently ranked No. 8 in the Southeast Region.

As a pairing, Bruning and Welborn have posted a 29-11 overall record with a 16-5 mark against league opponents.
