Men’s and Women’s Tennis Host Belmont Abbey on Thursday

ANDERSON, S.C. -The Anderson University men's and women's tennis teams return to action Thursday when it hosts Conference Carolinas member Belmont Abbey at the AU Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 11 a.m.

The Trojans - Men
After dropping an 8-1 setback at No. 44 Augusta from the Peach Belt Conference on Tuesday, Anderson is 6-3 overall.

In singles action, seniors Mateo Rivas and Inaki Iriberri have posted a 6-3 overall record for the Black and Gold.

In the doubles portion, Anderson's Iriberri and senior Paul Michael Calhoun hold a 6-3 overall record while junior Nicolas Ascarrunz is 3-1 overall.

The Trojans - Women
The Trojans are playing well despite a 6-3 loss at No. 36 Augusta on Tuesday. The Black and Gold are 7-5 overall and are looking for a little momentum before heading back into conference play on March 19.

In singles play, junior Rebecca Bruning has posted an impressive 9-2 overall record while teammates Karen Faria, Alexandra Ebner and Jennifer Holcombe have collected seven wins each for the Black and Gold.

In double action, No. 22 tandem of Bruning and Ivey Welborn are 9-3 overall along with Ebner. Veteran Faria has posted a 6-2 record in doubles play for the Trojans.

The Crusaders - Men
Belmont Abby men's tennis heads into Thursday matchup with a 5-10 overall record coming off a 7-2 loss to Edinboro.


The Crusaders - Women
Belmont Abbey women's tennis enters Thursday's match with a 5-9 overall record while on a two match slide. The Crusaders dropped a 6-3 defeat to South Atlantic Conference member Newberry while just being edged out, 5-4 by Edinboro on Tuesday.
