ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University women's tennis team was
defeated by No. 39 Wingate Wednesday afternoon at the WU Tennis
Facility.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs improve to 11-5 and a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
In the doubles round, No. 1 seeded Rebecca Bruning and Ivey Welborn defeated Oroma Womeodu and Andrea Ternera, 8-6 to earn the Black and Gold's lone point on the day. No. 9 Bruning and Welborn improve their doubles record to 13-5 matching last season's win total.
Despite not picking up any points in the singles portion, Bruning, Welborn and Alexandra Ebner each pushed their matches into the third set. No. 39 Wingate played relentless and shut down any charge from the Trojans.
