Men’s And Women’s Tennis Travels to Catawba and Queens This Weekend

ANDERSON, S.C. - Looking to continue the momentum following a pair of convincing South Atlantic Conference wins, Anderson University men's and women's tennis returns to the courts for their first SAC road trip this weekend. The Trojans will face off with Catawba on Saturday and Queens on Sunday with both matches beginning at 1 p.m. at each host schools respective facility.

The Trojans - Men
The men's tennis team is coming into the weekend matches with an overall record of 4-1 overall and 2-0 in SAC play. Doubles pairings Nicolas Ascarrunz and Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki Iriberri and Ramiro Urreta are a perfect 2-0 on when teamed up together.

In singles, Ascarrunz is the only Trojan to remain undefeated with Urreta, Iriberri, Rivas and Juan Carracedo falling only once during the young season.

The Trojans- Women
On the women's side, the Trojans are 5-1 overall and 2-0 in SAC play suffering their only setback of the year to Peach Belt opponent USC Aiken. Doubles partners Rebecca Bruning and Ivey Welborn are 6-0 on the season while holding a 19-5 all-time record as a pairing.

In the singles portion, veterans Alexandra Ebner and Karen Faria are 5-1 while junior Trojans Bruning and freshman Jennifer Holcombe are 4-1 overall entering the weekend contests. Senior Nikkola Wichenko and Sophomore Natalia San Jose have earned three overall wins with one lone defeat.

The Indians - Men
Catawba's men's tennis finished the 2014-15 season with an overall record of 14-10 and 4-7 in conference play. The Indians (4-6, 0-1 SAC) are currently on a three match slide with their last win coming against nonconference opponent Johnson C Smith in early February.

The Indians- Women
The women's tennis team posted a (11-12, 2-9 SAC) record a year ago. Catawba is currently 8-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference, losing its opening conference match to fifth seeded pre-season pick Newberry College, 6-3.

The Royals- Men
Queens' men's tennis heads into Sunday's with a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 in SAC play. The Royals were ranked No. 46, but fell from the national rankings with a 9-0 upset loss to Francis Marion back on February 6. The Royals will be out for revenge, as Anderson upset Queens last season with a dramatic 5-4 victory.

The Royals- Women
The women's tennis team won their opening conference match one week ago, blanking Brevard, 9-0. Queens finished (16-4, 7-3 SAC) last season while falling in the conference tournament title game to Wingate. Queens was ranked as high as No. 28 a year ago and is currently ranked No. 45. The Royals defeated the Black and Gold, 8-1, in their 2015 clash.
