Balanced Scoring Propels Trojans Past Cobras; 71-51

HARTSVILLE, S.C – Four Trojan players reached double-digit scoring, as No. 21 Anderson University women's basketball defeated South Atlantic Conference opponent Coker, 71-51, on Wednesday evening at the DeLoach Center.

With the victory, the Trojans improve to 21-4 overall and 16-3 in SAC play, while the Cobras slide to 9-14 overall and 6-13 in conference action.

Junior Taylor Hair scored a team-high 13 points while seniors Madison Baggett and Alexy Mollenhauer each netted 12 points apiece. Mollenhauer recorded her 15th double-double of the season adding 17 rebounds to her double-digit scoring. The native of Lindale, Texas became Anderson's all-time career rebound leader with 934 boards, surpassing 2018 standout Alexis Dillard's 928 mark. Freshman McKenzie Gadson chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Senior Amari Grevious contributed eight points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

Coker's Janell Horton scored a game-high 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting while Erin Houser chipped in eight points while ripping down 14 rebounds.

Anderson used a big second quarter to build a 19 point halftime lead, 41-22. Coker could not crack the deficit with the entire second half hovering around the 19 to 20 point difference.

The Trojans outrebounded the Cobras, 46 to 24, while scoring 10 more buckets than Coker. AU also made 6-of-20 3-point baskets while Coker came up empty behind the arc.

"I am always happy to get a road win, said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "Good balanced effort tonight with a solid 20 points off the bench."

"I am also really proud of how composed Lexy remained tonight after facing a double team most of the game", noted Barbaree. "She stayed the course doing her part on defense and that is not as easy as it looks. It just speaks volume to her character and how she values her teammates."

"Congratulations to Lexy for becoming AU's All-Time Career rebound leader", exclaimed Barbaree. "Please make sure you join us this Saturday to celebrate our entire amazing senior class!"

Anderson returns to the friendly confines of the Abney Athletic Center on Saturday to welcome SAC opponent Mars Hill. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm with senior recognitions just prior to tip-off.
