ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball player Alexy Mollenhauer has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Women's Division II National Player of the Week for the week ending February 2.
The native of Lindale, Texas was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after leading the Trojans to a 2-0 record, posting a double-double in both contests and averaging 30.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
Mollenhauer equaled her career-high with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 90-51 win over Queens, finishing 10-of-18 from the field, including 7-of-12 from three-point range, while also recording three steals and two blocks.
The senior forward went on to beat her career-high with 31 points and 14 rebounds in a thrilling 102-100 double overtime win over Carson-Newman, while adding six assists and five blocks.
Mollenhauer finished the week shooting 48 percent from the field, including 55 percent (11-of-20) from three-point range, and also averaged 3.5 assists, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. She ranks 14TH in NCAA DII in points per game (20.9) and is 17TH in rebound per game (10.8)
Anderson (17-3) will host SAC opponent Newberry on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm
