Largest Scoring Outburst of Season Catapults Trojans over Mars Hill; 97-67

Mars Hill, N.C. – No. 17 Anderson University women's basketball team exploded for a season-high outing, defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent Mars Hill, 97-67, on Saturday afternoon at Stanford Arena.

With the victory, the Trojans improve to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in SAC play, while the Lions plummet to 2-12 overall and 0-8 in conference action.

Four Trojans reached double-digit scoring led by senior Alexy Mollenhauer's game-high 21 points. Mollenhauer also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, recording her seventh double-double of the season. Junior Alexis Tate continued her solid play scoring 13 points and ripping down six rebounds. Freshmen McKenzie Gadson and Jayln Spurlin each scored just one shy of their career highs, chipping in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

After falling behind 5-0 to begin the contest, the Trojans went on a 14-0 run to take control of the game. Anderson scored at least 20 points in each frame with the highest total of 28 points coming in the second period.

Anderson's entire roster garnered playing time and all of the Black and Gold's 25 fourth quarter points came from bench scoring.

"Great team effort today with everyone playing hard and playing together," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree.

Anderson returns home to host SAC opponent Coker on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
