Eastside High School Names Former Trojan Nikki Young as Girls Basketball Head Coach

Anderson, S.C.-Former Anderson University women's basketball player Nikki Young has been named head coach for Eastside High School.

Young (2013-17) played in 95 games with 38 starts in her time as a Trojan. The native of Taylors, S.C. helped the Black and Gold compile an 87-33 overall record and a 67-21 South Atlantic Conference mark during her four-year stint. During this period Anderson claimed a SAC Regular Season title and three NCAA appearances.

Known for her energetic style of play and grit, the 5-5 guard played in 95 games while making 38 starts. For Young's career, she averaged 20.1 minutes while dropping in a career high 26 points and 10 rebounds during her junior season.

Prior to being named the head coach at Eastside, Young was previously an assistant coach at J.L. Mann for two seasons.

"I am really excited for Nikki," said Anderson University women's basketball head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "I know that she is going to do an excellent job. She's got a great basketball IQ and the young ladies are going to love playing for her."
