DURANGO, Colo. – The Anderson University women's basketball team was slotted No. 1 in the Preseason Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.
Anderson is among three other teams from the South Atlantic Conference ranked in the top-10. Carson-Newman claimed the third spot while Wingate landed in the fifth position and Tusculum was ranked T-8th.
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its sixth year of existence. The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
Anderson's season gets underway on Thursday, Oct. 31 when it opens with an exhibition contest at NC State. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
