Women’s Soccer Adds Emilie Toftbjerg to 2016 Class

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University women's soccer first-year head coach Julie Davis Carlson has added another signee to her already strong 2016 recruiting class. Carlson is looking to build off of a 2015 season where the Trojans team advanced to the postseason for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Black and Gold welcomes new signee Emilie Toftbjerg (Aaarup, Denmark) who joins Kristrun Antonsdottir (Hveragerdi, Iceland/Pepperdine University), Melanie Maddox (Midlothian, Virginia/Veritas School), Taylor Engle (Westchester, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick H.S.), Stephany Rose Diaz (Miami Palmetto Senior H.S.) and Bethany Morgan (Anderson, S.C./TL Hanna H.S.), on the team for the upcoming campaign.

Name: Emilie Toftbjerg
Position: Midfielder/Defender
Hometown: Aaarup, Denmark

Toftbjerg comes to the Trojans as an experienced player who has played in the top two divisions in the Danish Premier League. In 2015, she was a member of the Naesby Boldklub First Team, starting in both central defense and central midfield in all league matches. In 2014, Toftbjerg played for the Odense Boldklub reserves and the U18 team before being called up into the Naesby Blodklub First Team. Toftbjerg became the U18 Team Captain, started all league games while scoring three goals and maintaining top tier rankings in the first division. In 2013, as a young youth player, Toftbjerg played on the U18 Odense Boldklub and started all games, scoring eight goals.

Carlson on Toftbjerg: "Emilie comes highly recommended with a very good technical platform, strength in the air, quality vision and a high tactical understanding of the game. We are very excited to add her to our already well established defensive team unit. She has a great personality and is a leader in her craft. We expect great things from her as a freshmen and will look for her to be an impact right away."
