Trojans Remain in No. 7 Slot in NSCAA Southeast Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After posting back-to-back clean sheets last week, Anderson University women's soccer remained seventh in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Region Poll, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

Overall, the Trojans enter the week with a 12-2 record with their lone setbacks coming from regionally-ranked No. 4 Wingate and No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne. Throughout the season, AU has picked up victories over regionally-ranked No. 3 Carson-Newman and No. 9 Limestone, as it continues to sit in a tie for third in the current South Atlantic Conference standings with L-R.

This previous week, Anderson out-scored its opponents 7-0 with a 5-0 rout over nonconference opponent Emmanuel on Wednesday and a 2-0 blanking of SAC rival Catawba last Saturday. With three conference matches remaining on the schedule, the Trojans look to host their first SAC Tournament match for the first time in program history. The opening rounds of the SAC Tournament begin on Tuesday, Nov. 3 with the top-four teams in the final regular-season league standings to host their respective first-round matchups.

Columbus State took over the top spot in this week's poll following its back-to-back Peach Belt Conference wins over Flagler and Clayton State. North Georgia, which was ranked No. 1 for multiple weeks, dropped to No. 2 following its setback to Clayton State to open its week. Carson-Newman and Wingate follow in the third and fourth spots, respectively, while Armstrong rounded out the top five.

Belmont Abbey claimed the eighth position after the SAC tandem of L-R and Anderson, while Limestone and Clayton State grabbed ninth and 10th, respectively, to close out the weekly poll.

Anderson hits the road on Wednesday to SAC foe Queens, seeking its first-ever win over the Royals in recorded program history. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
