Agirre Earns Hero Sports D2 Women’s Soccer LEGEND of 2015

BELLEVUE, Wash. - After earning just over 43 percent of the popular vote, Anderson University women's soccer standout Idoia Agirre was tabbed Hero Sports D2 Women's Soccer LEGEND of 2015, announced by the publication on Monday.

Agirre edged Southwest Baptist's Karla Jamison (1,526 votes - 27.6 percent) and Wilmington's Loran Wyrough (1,031 votes - 18.6 percent) to claim the national award. The forward earned 2,410 votes from fans across the world to earn her second award from Hero Sports this year, as she was named D2 Women's Soccer Gem of the Week on Oct. 27.

Agirre shined throughout the 2015 season with a South Atlantic Conference-leading 22 goals and led the Black and Gold to the semifinals of the SAC Championship for the second time in program history. The Legazpi, Spain native closed her first campaign playing collegiate soccer as a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Women's Soccer All-America Second Team honor, marking the first All-American in program history.
