Trojans Move to No. 8 in NSCAA Southeast Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After splitting last week's South Atlantic Conference matchups, Anderson University women's soccer dropped a spot to No. 8 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Region Poll, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

The Trojans, who boast a 13-3 overall record for the season, dropped a 2-0 decision at Queens on Wednesday, but responded with a 2-0 blanking of Lincoln Memorial for Homecoming on Saturday. With the 1-1 record, AU sits alone in fifth place in the SAC standings with one match remaining on the regular-season schedule.

Anderson is one of four teams from the SAC to crack the top 10 in this week's poll, as Carson-Newman earned the No. 2 spot, while Wingate claimed the fourth position. Finishing just ahead of AU, Lenoir-Rhyne finished in sixth after the Bulldogs and Bears played to a scoreless draw on Saturday. All four clubs continue to chase Peach Belt Conference representative Columbus State for the top spot, as CSU sits at No. 1 for the second straight week.

Columbus State is one of four teams from the PBC inside the poll, as North Georgia was slotted third and Armstrong grabbed the sixth slot. Flagler rounded out this week's poll in the 10th spot after not being ranked in last week's group. Belmont Abbey (No. 7) and Limestone (No. 9) rounded out the field as the only two Conference Carolinas representatives.

The Trojans await the second installment of the NCAA regional rankings, which are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday. The NCAA regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through Nov. 4, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to SAC rival Mars Hill. Kick-off from Belk Field is slated for 2 p.m.
