Women’s Soccer Slotted No. 10 in NSCAA Southeast Regional Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Opening the season with five straight victories before suffering its first setback on Saturday, Anderson University women's soccer was slotted No. 10 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Regional Rankings, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

The Trojans find a spot in the weekly regional poll for the first time since the 2012 season and first under head coach Ciaran Traquair. Within the poll, AU is one of four schools from the South Atlantic Conference to crack the top-10.

This season, the Black and Gold offense has shined as they enter their next match on Wednesday as the nation's leader in total goals (29) and total points (81). On Saturday, Anderson became the first NCAA Division II program to eclipse the 80-point mark on the season despite dropping its first decision of the year to fellow regionally-ranked opponent, Wingate, 2-1.

Junior Idoia Agirre has been a major factor for the Trojan attack, as she currently leads the country in goals scored with 10, while tying for 13th nationally with teammates Marie Yasmine Alidou, Emily Cowan and Kenzie Van Heusen in assists with four. Agirre also leads the country in total points with 24, as she was held goalless for the first time against Wingate on Saturday.

Anderson looks to improve on its ranking on Wednesday when it hits the road to conference rival, Brevard. Kick-off at the Brevard Soccer Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
