Agirre, Johannes Named to NSCAA All-Southeast Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After Anderson University women's soccer junior striker Idoia Agirre was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team earlier in the week, Agirre was joined by senior defender Faith Johannes on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Southeast Region list, as Agirre was named to the first team and Johannes claimed a spot on the second team, announced by the NSCAA on Wednesday.

Agirre rounded out one of the most successful seasons by a Trojan scoring the most goals in program history with a South Atlantic Conference-leading 22-goal mark. The forward also paced the conference in points (51) and in shots on goal (62), while ranking second in the SAC in assists (7) and total shots (84). The Legazpi, Spain native continues to rack up the awards after being named the AstroTurf Player of the Week twice, the Hero Sports D2 Gem of the Week, the NSCAA National D-II Player of the Week and landing on the All-SAC First Team at the conclusion of the regular season.

Agirre headlined her first year with the Black and Gold by a two-goal performance to lead Anderson's comeback in the opening round of the SAC Championship against Lenoir-Rhyne. Agirre's charge eventually forced the match into penalty kicks where AU advanced, 4-2, into the SAC Championship semifinals for the second time in program history.

Johannes anchored a backline that posted seven clean sheets for the season while adding an assist and 18 shots. The Las Vegas, Nev. native earned a spot on the All-SAC Second Team at the end of the regular season, totaling her fifth all-conference honor for her three-year career with the Black and Gold. Johannes closed her collegiate career as one of the most versatile players in program history seeing playing time in every position, including goalkeeper.

The duo becomes the first Trojans to earn postseason recognition from the NSCAA in program history, as Agirre and Johannes were two of 16 players from the SAC to be recognized on the three teams honored by the NSCAA. Agirre was joined by Lenoir-Rhyne's Garcelle Alequine, Carson-Newman's Julianne Herrity and Wingate's Kaitlyn Brunworth on the first team.
