Women’s Soccer Ranked Seventh in NCAA Southeast Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - With its final regular-season contest slated for Saturday, Anderson University women's soccer is positioned seventh in the second of three NCAA Southeast Regional Rankings, announced by the NCAA on Wednesday.

The Trojans fell one spot from the previous rankings announced last Wednesday after splitting both its South Atlantic Conference matchups last week. Overall, AU carries a 13-3 overall record with its 7-3 mark in conference play, as it looks to host its first SAC Championships match in program history next week. Currently, the Trojans sit alone in fifth place in the SAC standings and need to move to fourth to host the quarterfinals at Trojan Stadium.

Anderson trails Lenoir-Rhyne and Queens in the conference standings, but both squads fall behind the Black and Gold in the regional rankings, as the Royals grabbed the eighth spot and the Bears took the ninth position. The SAC trio joins Carson-Newman (No. 2) and Wingate (No. 3) in the top 10, as the SAC is the most-represented league in the rankings.

Columbus State earned the No. 1 slot, jumping over both Wingate and Carson-Newman after being third last week. Following the Eagles and Bulldogs, Armstrong is ranked fourth, while North Georgia claimed the fifth spot, just ahead of Conference Carolinas' first representative, Belmont Abbey in sixth. Limestone rounded out this week's ranking in the 10th spot.

The regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through Nov. 4, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, Nov. 9.

Six teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with three more at-large selections.

The Trojans conclude their regular season on Saturday when they head to Mars Hill for a SAC contest. Kick-off from Belk Field is set for 2 p.m.
