Agirre, Poveda Named to SAC All-Tournament Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. -At the conclusion of the SAC Championship on Sunday, Anderson University women's soccer standouts Idoia Agirre and Mariana Poveda were named to the SAC All-Tournament Team, becoming the first Trojans to be picked to the team since the 2011 season, announced by the conference on Sunday.

Agirre led the Trojans with two goals in the final nine minutes of regulation to even the score against fourth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne, eventually sending the match into penalty kicks where AU advanced to the SAC Championship semifinals, 4-2. Despite only scoring in the quarterfinal matchup, Agirre tied for the tournament lead with her two goals against the Bears.

Poveda played the full 90 minutes against Lenoir-Rhyne and handed out the assist on Agirre's equalizer, as she increased her assist total to five on the year. At the conclusion of the regular season, Poveda joined Agirre on the all-conference teams, landing on the second team while Agirre earned a spot on the first team.

The Trojan duo joins former standouts Kaitlyn Neipp and Joelle Purinton as SAC All-Tournament selections in AU's six seasons within the conference.
