Trojans Jump to No. 9 in NSCAA Southeast Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Posting back-to-back triumphs last week, Anderson University women's soccer moved up one spot to No. 9 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Southeast Regional Poll, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

The Trojans represent one of four South Atlantic Conference schools in the top-10, as conference-leading Wingate found the No. 2 slot, while Lenoir-Rhyne was position fourth. Carson-Newman, which holds a 6-1 record on the year, was ranked sixth.

AU comes into the week with a 7-1 overall mark, as it currently rides a two-match winning streak following its wins over Brevard and Tusculum. Anderson forward Idoia Agirre led the Black and Gold to the victories, totaling five points on the week, which handed her AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. In the latest NCAA statistical release, Agirre ranks third in total goals with 12 and fourth in total points with 29.

Agirre and the rest of the Trojans return to the pitch when they travel to Limestone on Wednesday in a matchup that contains two regionally ranked opponents with the Saints earning the No. 7 spot. Kick-off from Saints Field is scheduled for 5 p.m.
