Trojans Move to No. 7 in NSCAA Southeast Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After finishing the week with a 1-1 record, Anderson University women's soccer dropped two spots to No. 7 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Region Poll, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

The Trojans opened the week with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over in-state rival Newberry on Wednesday at Trojan Stadium, but followed the win with a 2-1 setback at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. With the split, AU carries a 10-2 overall record with a 5-2 mark in South Atlantic Conference play, as its loss at L-R snapped a five-match winning streak. The Trojans currently sit in a tie for third in the SAC standings with Saturday's opponent L-R.

Anderson is one of four teams from the SAC to reach the top-10 in the region, as Wingate (#2), Carson-Newman (#4) and Lenoir-Rhyne (#5) all reached the top five. The Eagles and Bears both made significant jumps in this week's poll, as both clubs moved up three spots from last week. Wingate headlined the conference by moving to No. 9 in the national poll, while C-N was receiving votes.

North Georgia remains in the top spot for the Southeast Region, as the Nighthawks currently sit in the No. 3 spot in the national poll. Columbus State is positioned third, while Armstrong is No. 6 and Georgia College is slotted in the 10th position to round out the Peach Belt Conference contingent. Belmont Abbey (#8) and Limestone (#9) represent Conference Carolinas as the only two teams to crack the top 10.

Anderson jumps back into nonconference play on Wednesday when it hosts Emmanuel for a 2 p.m. start before moving back into SAC play on Saturday when it squares off against Catawba at Trojan Stadium. That matchup is slated for 1 p.m.
