CHUCKEY, Tenn. – Led by sophomore Calahan Keever's two-day, 1-over-par 145, the Anderson men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place, Tuesday at the Tusculum Invitational.
The Pioneers hosted the to-day, 36-hole event on a par-72, 6,882 yard, Graysburg Hills Golf Course layout.
Tusculum led wire-to-wire, while finishing four shots in front of runner-up West Georgia. Milligan moved up two spots to claim third place, with Newberry slipping from second place into fourth. The Trojans finished in a tie for fifth place, alongside Tusculum (B), while Ohio Dominican claimed the sixth slot. Walters State moved up three spots to finish eighth, with Christian Brothers claiming the ninth spot.
Shorter, Catawba, Spartanburg Methodist, UVa Wise, Emory & Henry, Roane State, Milligan (B) and Mars Hill rounding out the 17-team field.
West Georgia's Austin Fulton (69-68-137) overcame a one-stroke deficit to claim individual medalist honors by two shots over Tusculum's Liam van Deventer (68-71-139) and four over Newberry's Alex Pillar (68-73-141), who were tied atop the individual leaderboard following Monday's opening round.
Keever finished in a four-way tie for 13th place, while junior Reece Coleman and sophomore Daniel Coker finished in a tie for 17th place. Junior Anthony Sutton finished 25th, with junior Parker MacDonald claiming a share of 26th place. Freshman Simon Wright rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 85th.
