Men’s Golf Set for Tusculum Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a two-week layoff and a 16th-place finish at the Bearcat Classic, the Anderson men's golf team is set to take part in the Tusculum Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, at the Graysburg Hills Golf Club in Chuckey, Tenn.

The two-day event will be hosted by the Pioneers on the same course as the South Atlantic Conference Championship, which is slated for April 10-12 on a par-72, 6,834 yard layout.

The Trojans competed annually at the Tusculum Invitational from 2010 through 2016 when hosted at the Link Hills Country Club and posted their highest finish in seven appearances by placing fifth in a field of 14 teams in 2016.

Junior Reece Coleman notched his third consecutive top-10 finish two weeks ago in Greenwood behind an opening round 70, which marked his third-lowest round of the year – and finished in a tie for eighth place. Sophomore Calahan Keever finished in a tie for 68th place, while sophomore Daniel Coker shared the 73rd spot. Freshman Simon Wright wrapped up the tournament in a tie for 90th place, while junior Anthony Sutton shared 107th place.

The Trojans, who are tabbed 50th nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings, are paced by Coleman, who owns a 71.83 unadjusted stroke average through six tournaments. His 4-under 66 in the third round of Barton's Spring Bulldog Clash marks AU's low round of the season. The Port Elizabeth, South Africa, native has finished no lower than eighth in three spring tournaments and claimed second place at Lincoln Memorial's Spring Kick-off.

Keever owns four top-25 finishes this year and has carded two rounds of 68 and three 69s on the way to a 72.72 unadjusted stroke average. Wright has a 75.22 stroke average and carded a 67 in the second round of the Camden Collegiate in early October, while posting three rounds of 73 during the year.

Coker owns a 76.80 stroke average through 15 rounds and notched a 71 in the second round of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in mid-October, while also carding a pair of 72s during the year. Parker MacDonald has a 77.50 stroke average through two tourneys this year, while Sutton owns a 77.67 stroke average through four tournaments.
