Coleman Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's golf standout Reece Coleman has been named to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, as announced Thursday afternoon.

The teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-June.

Coleman, a native of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, captured Second-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors last month for the third straight season after also being recognized as a second-team selection a year ago and being named SAC Freshman of the Year in 2020.

He is ranked 77th nationally by Golfstat after posting a team-best 72.38 unadjusted stroke average through nine tournaments this year, with his low round of the season (66) coming in the final round of Barton's Bulldog Clash. His 4-under-par effort equaled the third-lowest round in school history and he also carded two rounds of 67 - at the Camden Collegiate and the LMU Spring Kick-off. Coleman also fired a pair of 69s - at the Miami Intercollegiate and in final round of the SAC Championship. He notched seven top-25 performances, including three top-10 finishes and finished as runner-up at the LMU Spring Kick-off.

Coleman is majoring in Business Computing & Data Analytics and holds a 3.64 GPA.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
