Coleman and Miller Earn Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's golf standouts Reece Coleman and Jake Miller have been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, as announced Thursday afternoon.

The teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Coleman, a rising junior, garnered All-South Atlantic Conference recognition for the second straight season after being recognized as First-Team All-SAC following the 2019-20 campaign. He was second on the team with a 72.65 unadjusted stroke average through seven tournaments last year, while equaling a school record with his first-round 64 at the Spring Kick-off Intercollegiate last February. The Port Elizabeth, South Africa native also posted a 66 in the first round of the Tennessee River Rumble.

He posted three top-10 finishes, including a third-place finish at the Full Moon Invitational and paced the Trojans in two tournaments, while finishing lower than 32nd just twice. Coleman finished the season ranked 88th in the nation by Golfstat.

Coleman is majoring in Business Computing and Computer Analytics and carries a 3.609 GPA.

Miller, an Anderson, S.C., native, was a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference honoree and was third on the team with a 73.60 unadjusted stroke average last season. He carded a season-low 2-under par 70 at Lander's Bearcat Classic in early March and recorded four top-20 finishes.

He was named the SAC Scholar-Athlete for Men's Golf in 2020 and followed up by earning AU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2020.

Miller earned his graduate degree in business administration last May, while carrying a 4.0 GPA.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
