Hall and Miller Earn Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Anderson University golf standouts Victoria Hall and Jake Miller have been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America® At-Large Teams, as announced Thursday afternoon.

The teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Miller, an Anderson, S.C., native was a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference honoree and was third on the team with a 73.60 unadjusted stroke average last season. He carded a season-low 2-under par 70 at Lander's Bearcat Classic in early March and recorded four top-20 finishes.

He was named the SAC Scholar-Athlete for Men's Golf in 2020 and followed up by earning AU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2020.

Miller earned his graduate degree in business administration last May, while carrying a 4.0 GPA.

A native of Moore, S.C., Hall was named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year in May and also captured the 2021 SAC Women's Golf Elite 20 Award.

She was second on the team with a 77.52 unadjusted stroke average through eight tournaments last year and had five top-25 finishes to her credit, while earning Honorable-Mention All-South Atlantic Conference honors. Hall posted a season-low 74 in the in the first round of the Lady Bearcat Invitational in late March and helped lead the Trojans to a runner-up finish at the SAC Championship and the squad's second consecutive appearance at the NCAA South Region Championship.

Hall wrapped up the season ranked 90th in the nation by Golfstat and in 2019 and she became the first golfer in school history to make an appearance in the NCAA National Championships.

A rising senior, Hall is majoring in kinesiology / pre-physical therapy and holds a 4.0 GPA.

Fourteen men and 10 women are repeat performers on this year's at-large teams. Thirty-two (18 women, 14 men) student-athletes on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II At-Large Teams have a 4.00 undergraduate GPA. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's At-Large First Team had an overall 3.95 GPA, while the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's At-Large First Team had an overall 3.93 GPA.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division II Academic All-America® program.

The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
