Men’s Golf in Seventh Place Midway Through Second Round at Camden Collegiate; Play Suspended Due to Weather

CAMDEN, S.C. – With play suspended due to inclement weather midway through the second round, the Anderson University men's golf team is in seventh place after finishing the first round in 10th place, Monday at the Camden Collegiate, which is being hosted by Limestone on a 6,455 yard, par-70 Camden Country Club layout.

"We were a bit disappointed with the start of our first round," said Anderson Director of Golf Danny Neal. "We really struggled to get something going. During the back half of the round, we steadied the ship a little. We felt a little better as the second round got going and we were able to move up several spots. Hoping we can finish well tomorrow and continue our rise in the field."

The two-day, 54-hole event marks the Trojans' season opener.

Lincoln Memorial led Erskine by two shots at the end of the first round, while North Georgia was one stroke further back in third place. USC Aiken was fourth, with Belmont Abbey and Coker sharing fifth place. Southern Wesleyan held the seventh slot following the first round, with Lander and Barton in eighth and ninth, respectively.

The Trojans were tied for 10th, alongside Limestone and Young Harris, while Lenoir-Rhyne, Queens, Flagler and Spartanburg Methodist rounded out the 16-team field.

Erskine's Alberto Dominguez (68) leads North Georgia's Noah Zediker (69) by one stroke as the duo battles for individual medalist honors.

AU junior Reece Coleman wrapped up the first round with a 2-over-par 72 and was tied for 23rd place alongside classmate Caleb Henson, but both players moved up dramatically in the second round, with Coleman in a five-way tie for fourth place when play resumes on Tuesday. Henson will begin Tuesday's action after vaulting into a tie for ninth midway through the second round.

Freshman Simon Wright will be in a tie for 40th place when the second round resumes, while sophomore Calahan Keever is tied for 59th place and junior Anthony Sutton will begin Tuesday in a tie for 79th place.

The second round is set to resume Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., with the third round slated to get underway immediately following the conclusion of round two.
