Men’s Golf Readies for Bearcat Classic

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson men's golf team is set to compete at Lander's Bearcat Classic, which will be hosted at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C. on Monday and Tuesday.

Last year's 54-hole, two-day event featured a par-72, 6,800 yard layout, with a 22-team field.

Calahan Keever, who is ranked 87th nationally by Golfstat, notched a three-round, even-par 216 a year ago to pace the Trojans to an eighth-place finish. The Greenville native finished with a share of 17th place, while Reece Coleman, who is currently ranked 68th, finished in a tie for 44th place and Anthony Sutton took home a share of 66thplace. Daniel Coker claimed a share of 90th place a year ago.

The Trojans, who are ranked 47th nationally, are coming off a seventh-place finish at last week's Spring Bulldog Clash, which was hosted by Barton. Coleman fired a three-round, 3-over par 213, including a final-round 66 and finished seventh. The third-round 66 matched the third-lowest round in school history. Keever finished in a tie for 22nd place a week ago, with freshman Simon Wright claiming a share of 39th place. Sutton and Parker MacDonald finished in a share of 43rd and 45th, respectively, with Coker finishing in 50th place.

Through five tournaments this year, Coleman paces AU with a 71.93 unadjusted stroke average, with his 66 marking the low round for the Black and Gold. Keever owns a 72.07 unadjusted stroke average and has fired two rounds of 68 and three 69s on the year. Simon Wright has a 74.73 stroke average and carded a 67 in the second round of the Camden Collegiate in early October.

Sutton owns a 76.78 stroke average, with Coker recording a 76.92 average through four tournaments. MacDonald has a 77.50 stroke average through two tourneys this year.
