Appleby Wins Shot Put at SWU GottaRun Invite

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team completed day two of the SWU GottaRun Invite on Saturday (Apr. 2) in Central, S.C.

Regan Appleby led the way for the Trojans by winning the shot put (12.59m). Emma Deadwyler finished second in the 100m in an impressive mark of 12.41. Lauren Pernell tied for second in the high jump with a distance of 1.50m. She also took seventh in the 100m hurdles in 15.65. Brianna Quartararo finished inside the top-three in the 400m (58.57).

Lacey Boozer took fourth in the 200m (25.71) with Brianna Quartararo just finishing outside the top-10 at a pace of 26.71. Emily Golden recorded a top-10 finish in the 1500m in a time of 5:04.45 to take eighth place. In the 3000m, Hannah Beth Brown finished 11th (12:14.42).

"We took a big step forward today with a good amount of personal records and one school record," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "This gives us a lot of momentum going into a huge meet next week."

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday (Apr. 8) when they travel to Cleveland, TN for the Flames Invitational. Results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
