Women's Distance Medley Team Sets School Record at South Carolina Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team completed the South Carolina Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 28) in Columbia, S.C.

On day one, Kamryn Osterbind set an Anderson school record with a time of 59.01 in the 400m. Olivia Rish recorded a top-10 finish in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:01.23.

The Trojans continued their great weekend as the distance medley team of Whitney Hanson, Brianna Quartararo, Kamryn Osterbind, and Olivia Rish shattered an Anderson school record with a time of 11:57.22 to finish in second place.

In the 5000 invite, Elise Matthews paced the Trojans with a time of 18:15.92 to take third place. Faith Nelson had a mark of 18:42.86 for a top-five finish. Emily Golden came in sixth place (18:46.40) while Jodi Ann Martin took ninth place in a time of 19:04.30.

"This weekend was fantastic for both teams," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We showed so much improvement across the board from two weeks ago. Just about every athlete had a huge breakthrough that shows what they are truly capable of the next time out. We broke four school records and provisionally qualified a relay to the national meet. I am extremely proud on how this team performed!"

The Trojans will be back in action next weekend (Feb. 4 - Feb. 5) as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Camel City Invitational.
