Women's Track and Field Impresses in 2022 Trojan Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. – On Saturday (Mar. 19), the Anderson University women's track and field team completed the 2022 Trojan Opener, the first ever home meet held on campus.

Whitney Hanson led the way for Anderson by winning the 800m in a time of 2:17.71. Kamryn Osterbind was close behind at 2:19.35 to finish in third, while Aubrey Stoddard finished fourth at 2:24.43. Rebecca Ward (2:28.74) and Autumn Bladen (2:31.16) finished 11th and 15th, respectively. Jodi Ann Martin took third in the 3000m steeple in a time of 12:08.59.

Lacey Boozer finished third in the 400m (58.95) and Brianna Quartararo took sixth with a mark of 59.91. Joeli Hayden also recorded a top-10 finish with a time of 1:02.14. Autumn Bladen and Madison Crumley each recorded a distance of 2.45m in the pole vault to tie for third place.

Emma Deadwyler returned to action and impressed on the track. She finished fifth in the 100m (12.58) and fourth in the 200m (25.60). Lacey Boozer ran well to record a top-10 finish in the 400m at a pace of 26.36.

The Trojans had three 4x400 relay teams that finished second, third, and sixth. The second place team, consisting of Katie Landry, Lauren Pernell, Lacey Boozer, and Brianna Quartararo finished in a time of 4:07.68.

The third place team, consisting of Whitney Hanson, Kamryn Osterbind, Olivia Rish, and Lauren Childers finished with a mark of 4:11.33.

Finishing in sixth place was the team of Autumn Bladen, Aubrey Stoddard, Rebecca Ward, and Madison Crumley in a time of 4:22.67.

"It was a great weekend for our program," said coach Kevin Eagle. "It meant a lot to our coaches, athletes, and administration to host our first track and field meet. Our focus now turns to the Raleigh Relays next weekend."

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday (Mar. 24) as they will travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays. Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
