Nine Trojans Named to USTFCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Anderson University men's and women's combined to have nine athletes named to the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Region Team: Philip Quillen, Brianna Quartararo, Kamryn Osterbind, Emma Deadwyler, Lacey Boozer, Whitney Hanson, Olivia Rish, Katie Landry, and Lauren Pernell.

"To have nine different individuals named All-Region, it shows how far this program has come in a short amount of time," said coach Kevin Eagle. "It is not an easy feat, especially in our tough region. I am extremely proud of all of these individuals.

Quillen, a senior from Spartanburg, S.C., set the Anderson school record in the 3,000m SC three times this season, all in his last three attempts: Georgia Tech Invitational on Apr. 23 (9:04.69), SAC Outdoor Championships on May 6th (9:04.12), and the Lee Last Chance Meet on May 14th (9:01.39).

The women's 4x400 relay team consisting of Brianna Quartararo, Kamryn Osterbind, Emma Deadwyler, and Lacey Boozer earned All-Region honors for the event. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, the relay team won the 4x400 and set a new Anderson school record with a time of 3:52.97.
Hanson, a junior from Colstrip, MT, earned All-Region honors for the Steeplechase. She won the 3,000m SC at the Georgia Tech Invitational in a time of 11:04.77 for a new personal best. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, Hanson finished on the podium in third at 11:08.98.

Landry, a senior from Ashland, MA, was All-Region for both the javelin throw and heptathlon. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, Landry won the heptathlon and set a new Anderson school record with a total of 4,514 points. In the javelin throw, she placed third with 37.49m. Landry was also named the SAC Elite 20 Award Winner for both indoor and outdoor track and field.

Pernell, a junior from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., was named All-Region for the heptathlon. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, she placed third in the heptathlon with a total of 4,290 points for a new personal best. At the Flames Invitational, Pernell finished third in the event (3,973).

Osterbind, a senior from Elkton, Md., was named All-Region for both the 800m and 4x400 relay. She won the 800m at the Clemson Opener (2:17.51) and the Electric City Invitational (2:15.79). At the SAC Outdoor Championships, Osterbind finished fifth in the 800m while being part of the winning and school record setting 4x400 relay team.

Rish, a senior from Pelzer, S.C., was named All-Region for the 800m. Her personal best time came at the Lee Last Chance Meet where she finished 10th with a mark of 2:13.23. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, Rish took sixth place (2:18.35). Her time of 2:16.00 won the event at the SWU GottaRun Invite.
